How is that template working?

How is that template working?

No one wants to revisit the same storyline told over and over again with plug-and-play characters. Despite the consumer appetite for James Bond, Harry Potter, and Star Wars, the approach doesn’t work with marketing content.

For starters, those series represent an unfolding storyline across time using the same characters as they experience new situations. That’s probably not true for your projects. Your characters will change and so will their stories. Second, those movies have a huge footprint advantage. By the time they hit global release, much of the world is already familiar with them. It’s highly doubtful that your videos will have that level of familiarity. And finally, in the end you’re selling something and everybody knows it. Don’t make the story as predictable as the outcome. It’s boring.

Keep your content fresh. Use the element of surprise when appropriate. Vary how you introduce the characters and how you close it out. Make some stories more dramatic and some more uplifting. And be sure to initiate each storytelling project with a strong ideation phase to choose the very best approach.
